Need advice from women

Hi there,
I go to these group events every now and then and meet some women. I talk to them, but I don't get their phone number thinking that I may look deperate if I ask her the first time I meet her in a group event and I will get the number on the next event since she is a regular to those.
Am I doing the right thing?
Also, in this e-world, I tend to ask them for their email address instead of the phone number thinking that they will be more comfrtable giving the email out than their phone number.
Any opinions about these from the women of this board?

I think the only way you would look desperate is if you asked a whole bunch of women at the group for their number. If there is one that you feel a connection to, don't be afraid to ask out of fear of offending.
As far as asking for their email address.......maybe ask......Could I get your phone number or your email address. Let them decide which one they feel most comfortable with.
I feel people are more open on email than in phone calls, but let the woman decide.
