I don't believe that it is all "common sense". Part of the art of body language is natural though, yes. You just do it naturally; lick your lips when you are aroused, lean in closer to that special someone, etc.
Not to worry though, you can quite easily teach yourself to give off appropriate body language. How would you want someone to respond to you? Imitate that. Touch people. When you are talking to people, touch them! It will give you practice.
Don't grope people, but pat them on the back, or hand. Touch their arm. Pick imaginary lint off of them. Smile often, invade that personal space just a little for a moment, give them a chance to feel the heat of your body, or smell your shower gel. Run your hands through your hair occasionally, touch yourself: like you are smoothing your clothes.
Your best bet is to be yourself. People will be drawn to you if you feel comfortable in your own skin...
