This is something I really can't speak for. My gf and I were friends before we became a 'couple,' but looking back, some of the things we did were 'date-ish.' Movies and all that. Never had dinner together, out, for a long long time after we were a 'couple.' Maybe because we were both po'. Hehe.
But, I think that's probably the best way to go, as i've advertised before; become friends first, then dating will follow, if it's right for the two of you.
Of course, i guess that can't always be the case. Someone else help me out here?

I really dont' like dates, I'd rather be friends first. But I always end up going on dates anyway. I'm always nervous on a first date, takes me forever to pick out something to wear. But anyway I can usually tell within the first 20 min. if I'm gonna have a good time and possibly go on another date or if there's not any sparks there.

April is right in her way. She always has been that way. Anyway I just went on my first real date like a week ago it is weird. I like it alot and i get so flattered when the guy buys everything for me... i mean i have gone out with guys before and they payed but those weren't like real dates. I mean i guess for me to consider it a date you gotta be of the same maturity level as i am... and believe me my guy is. And that is why i feel we are dating so he is my first real date... he gave me a straw at a resteraunt that comes in the kiddy meals, it was a straw that curves and stuff and he held it behind him like a flower... that was actually really sweet. And the first date we ever went on the one we met on he payed for everything it was like a blind date. He is so sweet so my experience with dating has all been positive. Go for it!
When i looked up the dictionary, the definition of "date" comes as follow:
infml esp. AmE to go on or have a DATE - with (another or each other) - to see or to meet someone
...
Didn't say anything about who pays the bill at all.
i know it is always sweet and nice if the guy is paying for all the stuffs but if you are too concerned about this fact, you may probably be overwhelmed and miss out other nice things?
Besides, please don't judge a person for how much he can afford, won't it be wonder to look at how much he cares?
