Hi all,

This is my first time posting, and here's my situation:

I'm 16, and I'm going to be a junior in HS this year. There is this girl (14 years old) that I like. We seem to have a good bit in common like, we go to the same church, we take tennis lessons from the same coach (we'll take group lessons together when school starts), and we'll both go to the same HS this year (she'll be a freshman).

I've never had a g/f before, for several reasons. I've seen other guys and their girl problems, but also, I am an introvert, and I used to think other guys were better than me. Now I realize, I can't find many guys that are (I think) better or more attractive than me. Forgive my bluntness.

My question is, how should I approach her? She has her own group of friends (as do I) in our respective age group. We IM on the internet pretty frequently (both of us initiate the conversations), but we don't talk as much outside the net. Is this age difference too large, or is it manageable? I'm not too experienced with girls (by choice, I'd like to think), and would love your advice.

I'm 6'2", dark hair, blue-green eyes, and fairly smart. Thanks for your advice.

By golly you sound just like me!! By the sounds of your scenario you've got everything going for you here really. I say keep conversation going and start to talk to her more off the internet (phone, in person etc). Also, you should ask her to hang with you sometime, anywhere is cool - you could meet at the shops, movies, whatever. Asking her while you're at Tennis would be a prime idea. Just spend time with her and get to know her better, as friends. If all goes well she'll talk to you more too and ask you places and before you know it you'll be there. Just one step at a time!
