My boyfriend of over a year just moved 5 hours away. We're still dating and I know it'll be hard, but I graduate in 3 months and hope to find a job near him (anyone know of jobs in Mechanical Engineering in Indianapolis?).
I was wondering if anyone had any hints on helping it work with us being so far apart.
In addition to the fact that he'll be far away, his new job requires a good bit of travel so his job will probably end up dictating our visiting days.
Just looking for any hints if there are any

Having been in a LDR for the past year, I would say re-discover the lost art of the written word....
I do two things:
1. The obvious, write letters. And for just about anything imaginable. It is amazing how much you will learn about each other, even if you've been together for a long time.
2. I also keep a journal that I write in every couple of weeks. I write out my feelings about our relationship, my hopes and dreams for us, and it is an awesome way to see how my love for him has evolved. (It is amazing how much I learn about myself in doing this.) It is my plan to give it to him as a wedding present one day.
Other than that - make sure you schedule sometime for each other no matter how difficult it may be. I know that the time we do get to spend together is precious and far too brief. Often I struggle with trying to enjoy the moments we have together rather than dreading having to part.
Ahhh, I wish I could be with him now. :( But it will be alright, we both know that our current "phase" is only temporary.... :)
